We are the Scanlan Clan. My name is Cintia and I am married to an amazing man named Patrick and we are expecting our first son. I am 29 weeks pregnant with our little Seth Ethan. Patrick and I have been married for 3 1/2 years and never thought we could have children.
When I was 21 years old I was told that I could not have children, so when Patrick and I were married we were aware that we could not conceive. We were VERY surprised to find that I was pregnant this past April. Of course we thought that there had to be a mistake, but after 4 pregnancy tests we realized that I was indeed pregnant. Being a little melodramatic and believing that I could not have a healthy pregnancy I rushed to see a doctor. I was convinced that it had to be an ectopic pregnancy. Of course it was not. Granted the doctors were not the easiest people to listen to, I was told that 1 in 4 women will miscarry and that I should not expect to keep this baby. So the worries continued. I was sent for an ultrasound on a Thursday and found that all was well. Patrick was in California at the time trying to get all of his flying out of the way for his aviation classes. I was in Provo living with my dad and getting medical treatments. The distance proved to be too much for us and Patrick came home in June. We are now living in our own apartment in Provo. In July we were walking in the South Towne Mall in Sandy when we came across a place called Fetal Studios. We went in to investigate and found out that we could find out the sex of the baby as early as 14 weeks. I was 19 weeks at the time and the prices were just right so we decided to find out the sex of the baby. We were thrilled and thoroughly surprised to find out that we were having a boy. We returned this past Saturday the 17th for a 3D/4D ultrasound. We were told that because I have been so sick and have not been able to gain any weight or keep fluids down, there was almost no amniotic fluid in my uterus. I am heading to see my doctor on Thursday the 22nd and I hope that I can get some help getting some more fluid in my uterus. The radiologist said that we were looking at Seth coming 3-4 weeks before his due date, we are hoping that that will not happen. We are so blessed in our lives to have our sweet miracle baby. We never thought that we could have our own child and he is now over 3 lbs and growing strong. We love out little Seth Ethan and know that he will be a wonderful addition to our little Clan.
